Tip:Be sure to wash your
hair every day, an oily
scalp or hair will
exacerbate the acne
infections
Whether you
are treating your acne at home or under guidance of a physician,
there are some basic approaches to treatment.
Cleansing and skin care
Washing the skin once or twice a day with a mild cleansing bar
or liquid to keep the skin clean and minimize, sensitivity and
irritation. Please consider that washing the skin more often
will make the sebaceous glands to produce more oil!
Using cosmetics
Don’t be afraid to hide blemishes as long as you are using water
based, oil-free or noncomedogenic products.
Using facials
While not absolutely essential, steaming and “deep cleaning”
pores is useful especially for people with whiteheads or black
heads.
Using pore strips
Pore strips act like facials. They are not as good, but good
enough to pull out black heads and other unpleasant-material
from the pores. Pore strips are cheap and easy to use today. You
can find them in all pharmacies.
Shaving carefully
Men who shave and who have acne, should test both electric and
safety razors to see which is more comfortable. When using a
safety razor make sure the blade is sharp and clean. Softening
the beard by washing through with soap and water before applying
shaving cream works fine. Shave gently and only when necessary.
Avoiding a sunburn or sun tan
Sun burn and suntan may make the blemishes less visible and make
the skin feel drier. How ever these are only temporary.
Tip:Make sure to clean
cosmetic brushes regularly
in soapy water and throw out old,
contaminated
makeup.
