Acne or Rosacea
Tip:
When using any acne
medicine,
always
apply the medication
over the entire face.
Most medications are
aimed at the prevention
of new pimples.
Rosacea has often been confused with acne
vulgaris, when it is actually a different skin condition. It is
a common skin disease that causes the skin to become red and
itchy.
The symptoms are:
Redness on the
cheeks, nose, chin and the forehead (erythema)
Small visible
blood vessels on the face (telangiectasis)
Bumps or pimples
on the face.
Watery or
irritated eyes (ocular rosacea)
There is no cure for rosacea, but with proper treatment it can
be controlled. It varies from typical acne in that it
generally begins to show up over the age of thirty. Rosacea is
more common in women than men, but the symptoms are more
severe in men.
Tip:
If tetracycline is
prescribed, be sure to take
it at least one hour before or two
hours
after mealtime.
